Rules and Regulations for Majors and Minors

In order to meet the students’ diverse needs and interests, Konkuk University (KU) provides the multiple major program (다전공) and minor program (부전공), as well as allows qualified students to change their majors (전과). (These are optional, not mandatory.)

※ Note: These programs are not applicable to non-degree students (e.g., exchange and visiting students, etc.).

This program allows you to study two or three majors simultaneously with equal priority for each major.
Students must obtain at least 40 credits of major core courses (50 credits for Education majors) for each

Students registering for the 3rd-8th semesters can apply for the multiple major program in the beginning
of each semester, around January and July, through the KU Portal. Your application must be approved in
order for you to participate in the program.

The following departments (majors) below are not applicable to the multiple major program:
  • Departments in the College of Art & Design (with the exception of Apparel Design and Film)
  • College of Education (with the exception of Music Education and Physical Education)
  • Veterinary Medicine, Medicine, and Nursing

※ Note: It is possible to pursue multiple majors within the Arts.

Transferring Course Credits

Courses taken through minor programs and general elective courses taken for primary majors may be
transferred toward completing the multiple major requirements. (Please visit the administrative office of
your college for more information.)

Changing to a Minor Program

A student pursuing the multiple major program can change one of the majors to a minor by submitting
the “change (completion) of minor form” prior to the beginning of the graduating semester (around
January and July of each academic year). In this case, the minimum credits of major core courses required
for graduation will be applied to the single major student.

Conferment of Degrees

Multiple major students will receive the degrees for their respective majors upon completion of the graduation
requirements for the respective majors. (i.e., the degrees will be conferred all at once.)
