Mechanical Design & Product Engineering Major

The educational objective of the field of mechanical engineering is to develop students' attributes and abilities, allowing them to design, analyze, produce, and operate the mechanical systems which form the foundation of all industries. The Mechanical Design & Product Engineering Major at Konkuk University (KU) runs practical education and research programs focused on future fields and tailored to changes in the supply and demand for personnel in the high added-value new growth engine industries. Such industries have become the central focus of government efforts in light of their importance to the country's level of competitiveness and the welfare of its citizens.

  • High added-value fields of mechanical engineering in current demand by society include biomechanics, energy systems design, robotics/mechatronics, noise and vibration, automobile engineering, and microsystems.
  • Mechanical engineering aims to develop cutting-edge industry technologies in new materials, machine design, production and automation, computer-aided design and analysis, and biomechanics.

Our goal is to equip students with theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the area of mechanical engineering based on the educational objectives of the College of Engineering, for the purpose of developing logical, creative and proactive engineers with Konkuk’s founding spirit of sincerity, fidelity, and righteousness. We have set the following objectives in order to achieve our goal of fostering creative thinkers capable of producing innovative value for society.

  1. Nurture students' ability to actively adapt to workplace environments by equipping them with strong scientific and practical engineering knowledge
  2. Foster future-oriented, adaptable, and creative thinkers through the strengthening of overall design training
  3. Develop individuals with character and a sense of ethics able to fully respond to various social demands not limited to only engineering issues
  4. Develop leadership skills tailored to the age of globalization and information by equipping students with communication and practical computer skills
