Prof. In Soo Choi’s research team from Konkuk University’s College of Veterinary Medicine announced on the 31st that their thesis on the analysis of the causes of horse viral hepatitis published in the international journal ‘Transboundary and Emerging Disease’ (IF 5.005) was selected as the ‘Agricultural Food Performance Focus’ by BRIC. (Thesis title: First report of equine parvovirus-hepatitis and equine hepacivirus co-infection in horses in Korea)Written by Prof. Choi and Manager Jungho Yoon (Ph.D student from Department of Veterinary Medicine) from Korea Racing Authority as the lead authors, the thesis first revealed the unknown routes of disease transmission and characteristics of infection through prevalence rate and clinicoepidemiologic analysis of viral causes (parvovirus and hepacivirus)that cause fatal hepatitis in horses in Korea. The research team has previously reported parvovirus hepatitis clinical cases (Viruses, IF 5.048) for the first time in Asia and published a thesis on the new horse parvovirus dispersion and infection characteristics (Veterinary Sciences, IF 2.304).
BRIC (Biological Research Information Center) is established to develop research information and academic exchange activities at home and abroad for life sciences (basic, applied, agricultural foods) while about 40,000 daily users are visiting its website. The subjects of the study are Korean scientists who published thesis in academic journals of the top 5% of each field.
