On May 17, 2016, Konkuk University (KU) medical school held an academic conference to celebrate its 30th anniversary and the 10th anniversary as a professional school. KU Foundation Chairperson Kyung-hee Kim, President Heeyoung Song, Executive Vice President for Medicine Jung-hyun Yang, Dean of the Medical School Byung Chul Yoo as well as Dr. Seol-heui Han, President of Konkuk University Medical Center, joined medical professionals, researchers, and students at the event. The conference was comprised of four sessions. The first session was titled “Translation of Stem Cell Research into Clinic.” Professors from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, Yonsei University, and KU discussed the most recent developments in stem cell research. In the second session, experts at Korea University and Korea Institute of Science and Technology delivered presentations under the theme of “Innovative Bridging Platform for Translational Research.” The third session was on biomarkers, which is used widely in pharmaceutical research and personalized medicine. During the final session, KU professors specializing in otorhinolaryngology, internal medicine, pathology, and oncology introduced clinical cancer research conducted at the KUMC.
