Konkuk University Professor Janghyeok Yoon (College of Industrial Engineering) was selected as one of 10 ‘Young Researcher 2018’ by Korea Research Foundation.The Korea Research Foundation and Elsevier, the world's largest publisher of academic research, selected Korean nationals under the age of 39 who analyze the results of academic research papers published by Korean universities and research institutes from various perspectives. Five people in natural science·engineering, three people in life sciences, and two people in humanities and social sciences were selected. The two institutions used the Scopus DB, an Elsevier academic citation information, and the Korean Researcher Information (KRI) database of the Korea Research Foundation, to extract candidates and select final winners after deliberation. Professor Janghyeok Yoon of Konkuk University published 39 international academic papers through data-based business intelligence research and recorded 689 papers' achievements, and was selected as the field of Business, Management and Accounting. Business Intelligence means supporting scientific management decisions by combining data analytics, into the business field. Professor Yoon developed a patent evaluation system 'KPAS (KIBO Patent Appraisal System)' service with the Korea Technology Finance Corporation with Deep Learning Artificial Intelligence Technology and developed 'Technology Opportunity Discovery (TOD) ' with Technology Intelligence lab of Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information. Professor Yoon said, "I will try hard to grow as a global researcher through the fusion study of social science and technology based on data." "Most of the Nobel Prize winners start their core research related to the Nobel Prize before the late 30s and complete their research in their 50s," said Korea Research Foundation Chairman Roh Jung-hye. And added "We will continue to innovate the research environment for Korean researchers where they can develop their own capabilities and create world."
