According to Konkuk University (KU), four teams of mechanical engineering students (academic advisor: Professor Chang-wan Kim of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, College of Engineering) won the grand prize, the silver prize and the bronze prize at the 2018 MSC University Simulation Realistic Contest held by MSC Software Corporation.
During the contest, took place on the Pangyo Startup Campus, five teams who had advanced to the final round after tough competition gave demonstrations and presentations on the studies they had carried out.
Winners of the grand prize (one team), the gold prize (one team), the silver prize (one team) and the bronze prize (two teams) were selected by engineering professionals specializing in Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) working for Hyundai Motor Company, Korean Aerospace Industries and GM Korea.
Undergraduates and graduates can apply for the MSC University Simulation Realistic Contest which was organized to discover talented engineers. The contestants with brilliant ideas in connection with CAE compete for prizes.
Team Himalayas, composed of KU senior Ah-rim Park, Ji-san Kim and Yi-jae Choi of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, was awarded with the grand prize for their study on the impact force applied to the human body and effects of climbing sticks when climbing a mountain.
Team G.A.G.A, consists of Jae-geun Jeong and Gyeong-wook Jang, received the silver prize for their study on design for curve squeal noise reduction, Team KAI, Dae hee Kim, Hyeon-ho Kim and Chang-yeong Lee and Team Subsonic, consists of Min-yeong Kang, Do-hoon Kim, Jeong-joo Lee and Won-guk Jeong, were presented with the bronze award for their study on conceptual design for hyperloop, a new form of high-speed tube transportation. All of the research done by the four teams who went through to the finals was funded through the PRIME project.
