Beginning in the 1950s, American veterinarians currently produced more than 11,000 specialists in 22 fields. European Veterinary Systems were introduced in the clinical field in the 1990s, with more than 4,300 specialists working in 25 specialties. Following this, the Asian Veterinary Professional Association has introduced Veterinary Medicine Systems such as internal medicine, surgery, ophthalmology and dermatology since 2005. Veterinarians from different regions, such as Europe and North America, obtain professional qualifications in an integrated system. Therefore, considering that it is not possible to participate in the professional training program of each university without an internationally recognized veterinary specialist, Konkuk University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, which is the only private university in Korea can be a foundation of produce Veterinary Specialist systemically. Although a Veterinary System has not yet been established at domestic Veterinary Medicine Colleges, each university is trying to establish a Veterinary Specialist System. Professor Hee-Myung Park said, “The acquisition of this Asian specialty is very meaningful in that we can have a systematic professional acquisition opportunity for graduates of our university.” It is meaningful that I was able to participate in the specialist system, which is an International Veterinary System."
