Professor Young Sunwoo, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Konkuk University, was selected as Secretary General of IUAPPA, International Union of Air Pollution Prevention and Environmental Protection Associations.
IUAPPA is a prominent international academic association founded in 1964. The association is based on science and technology, research and development, information exchange, and the connection of science and environmental policy to improve the air environment. IUAPPA consists of member organizations such as the international air pollution society and international environmental organizations.
At the 18th World Clean Air Congress (WCAC) held in Istanbul, Turkey, from September 23 to 27, Professor Young Sunwoo’s Secretary General ceremony was held. At the delegation ceremony, Professor Young Sunwoo said, "I am very honored to have the IUAPPA Secretariat in Korea. And I would like to make IUAPPA as the world’s best international academic association.
The 17th World Clean Air Congress (WCAC) was held in BEXCO, Busan, in 2016 and was a successful case where more than 1,100 people participated and attracted global attention on air pollution. Currently, Professor Young Sunwoo is the chairman of the Korean Society for Atmospheric Environment and raising the international status of Korea in the field of air environment by attracting the secretariat of IUAPPA to Korea.
