Konkuk University (KU) School of Medicine held the Konkuk International Symposium for Bio-medical Science 2014 (KISBMS 2014) on Sept. 24-26, 2014, with the Max Planck Institutes of Germany, world's top research institute in the basic sciences, at the Biomedical Science Building.
At this symposium titled "Stem Cell Research from Bench to Bedside," KU University Professor Hans Schöler, who is also Director at the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Biomedicine, and several overseas and domestic researchers participated to give lectures and engage in discussions. The themes covered included "Pluripotency & Differentiation," "Cellular Reprogramming," and "Stem Cell-based Translational Research."
Prof. Dong Wook Han (KU School of Medicine) commented, "Based on the achievements of this symposium, Konkuk will actively pursue new technology development in the stem cell area through joint research with domestic and overseas research organizations."
KU School of Medicine was selected as an official Partner Group of the Max Planck Institutes in April 2014, concluding a mutual agreement on joint research in the stem cell area.
