Konkuk University (KU) announced that four colleges in the bioscience field altogether hosted the KU Bio Symposium under the title "Development of New Tailor-made Anticancer Agents Using Biomarkers" at the Admissions & Information Technology Building on Seoul Campus on July 14, 2015.
This symposium invited Dr. Asher Nathan, a world-renowned authority in tailored new drug development and Chairman of Sopherion Therapeutics, as guest speaker. Dr. Nathan is a researcher with a cutting edge cancer treatment technology which is tailor-made for patients, developed by utilizing a system of directly transplanting patients' cancer tissue into laboratory mice.
In the first half of the symposium, Dr. Nathan and Prof. Lin-Woo Park (Biological Sciences Major) presented their respective research outcomes, while Prof. Hyungdon Yun (Systems Biotechnology Major) and Prof. Donghak Kim (Biological Sciences Major) shared their research outcomes in the second half. Discussions and debates on each topic followed.
Prof. Eun Soo Kim, Dean of KU College of Bioscience & Biotechnology, said, "Konkuk has become equipped with the highest level of competitiveness in the biofield throughout its course of history, and its bio group is excelling as a pioneer of the field through the biocluster consisting of biomedical science, KU School of Medicine, KU Medical Center, and Institute of Biomedical Science and Technology. We hope that our bio researchers attending this symposium would create synergy to allow Konkuk's biofield to leap higher."
