Konkuk University (KU) Office for Research, University-Industry Cooperation Foundation held an award ceremony entitled "KU Research Pioneer" on Nov. 18, 2014. Forty one Konkuk faculty members were awarded in recognition of their superb research achievements.
The number of publications and extr2mural research grant received during 2012-2013 and the impact factor of the past four years were analyzed, through which faculty members with the highest achievements were identified. The award criteria were divided into three: domestic and international journals, extramural research grant, and impact factor.
The ceremony was attended by about 80 Konkuk members and guests including Chairperson Kyung-hee Kim, President Heeyoung Song, and members of the Academic Board.
Among the "pioneers," Prof. Deok-Kun Oh (College of Bioscience & Biotechnology) was placed no. 1 in the number of publications, no. 3 in extramural research grant, and no. 1 in impact factor, winning the Triple Crown. There were three Double Crown winners: Prof. Jin Hoi Kim (College of Animal Bioscience & Technology) for publications (no. 3) and extramural research grant (no. 4), and College of Engineering's Prof. Doo Kyung Moon for publications (no. 3) and extramural research grant (no. 5) and Prof. Jae Whan Cho for publications (no. 4) and impact factor (no. 3).
