The European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) announced that it will reoperate the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) in March 2015 following its extensive upgrade over the past two years. Accordingly, the possibility of discovering the Cho-Maison monopole by Prof. Yongmin Cho, a world-renowned theoretical physicist and University Professor at Konkuk University (KU), is rising.
* Note: The Cho-Maison monopole was named after Prof. Cho and Dr. Dieter Maison (Max-Planck Institute of Germany), who proved its existence through their paper published in 1997.
According to Prof. Cho, CERN has been conducting an experiment for discovering the Cho-Maison monopole with the Monopole and Exotics Detector at the LHC (MoEDAL) created jointly with universities and institutions worldwide; when the expansion of LHC is complete in March 2015, there is a high possibility of finding the Cho-Maison monopole.
