Konkuk University (KU) announced on Aug. 12, 2015, that the Division of Internet & Multimedia Engineering was awarded five prizes, including the excellence award for students’ research paper, at the Korea Computer Congress (KCC) 2015 of the Korean Institute of Information Scientists and Engineers (KIISE) hosted at Jeju National University in June.
The KIISE, with a history of 42 years since establishment, is Korea’s representative and notable academic society in the information and science field with around 33,000 affiliated members. Among the 740 research papers submitted to the Congress this year, selected works within the top 10% were awarded. A separate assessment process was held for undergraduate-level papers to discover the innovative ideas of undergraduate students and to help enhance their presentation skills.
The KU Division of Internet & Multimedia Engineering student teams had submitted a total of eight papers from which five were awarded for distinguished quality. The “Excellence Award” was given to the student team composed of Ms. Seon-ju Song and Ms. Jee-eun Kim for their research on one-hand keyboard for smart phones, while three teams received the “Participation Prize” for their studies on information technology for automobiles, remote device control, device network expansion, and support vector machine (SVM).
