Prof. Harksoo Kim’s research team from Konkuk University’s Division of Computer Science and Engineering at College of Engineering takes first place in the TAC Relation Extraction Dataset Competition by Stanford University, which holds the world-class authority in the field.Relation Extraction, which is a key factor used in knowledge base construction and knowledge learning, refers to a process understanding the relationship among elements within a sentence and extracting them. The ‘Exobrain – Detailed Task 2’ participated by Prof. Kim’s team and Korean artificial intelligence company ‘Saltlux’ ranked second with 75.0 points in the TAC Relation Extraction Dataset Competition by Stanford University, beating promising artificial intelligence research institutes around the world including Princeton University, Washington University and Meta AI (previous AI research system for Facebook). The team has topped the Re-TACRED benchmark competition with 91.4 points, which improved error data in the TACTRED benchmark, and has been selected as the SOTA(State Of The Art) meaning the best performance of AI models in each area.Exobrain is a representative R&D project of artificial intelligence to enhance the future competitiveness of a nation and enterprises in Korea. This project aims to develop domestic artificial intelligence software to enable practical communication with people and intellectually cooperate in decision-making while being widely known as it was aired on EBS Scholarship Quiz winning human participants.
