Team KAPE:IN from Department of Animal Science and Technology at Konkuk University College of Sanghuh Life Science recently won the grand prize in a group competition for the ‘11th National Livestock Product Quality Evaluation’.National Livestock Product Quality Evaluation, which is hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and organized by the Livestock Quality Assessment Institute, is designed to foster talents for domestic livestock and meat sector and to provide opportunities for livestock product quality evaluation. It is the only college student competition in the field of livestock in Korea where students from universities related to livestock and veterinary departments compete.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the competition of this year was held at the VR Evaluation Center where the contents can be graded through pictures of cows and pigs, and certain areas including cross sectional areas of sirloin and back-fat thickness can be measured.
Minji Kim, Yesul Park, Imkyung Woo, Hayoung Won and Michan Jang worked on the competition for two months and were provided with the relevant education through untact seminars. The written test was evaluated online by connecting it with mobile phone and web camera while sharing the screen with the participants.
Team KAPE:IN said, “All the members encouraged one another and studied the expected questions,” adding that, “We will make our best efforts to contribute to the development of domestic livestock industry for the remaining undergraduate years.”
