	Prof. Young-hoon Cho from Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering Wins Outstanding Thesis Award at Power Electronics Annual Conference

A research team led by Prof. Young-hoon Cho from Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at College of Engineering, Konkuk University, won two Outstanding Thesis Awards at ‘2021 Power Electronics Annual Conference’.           <img alt="" src="ArticleFile.do?id=11824463" /><img alt="" src="ArticleFile.do?id=11824464" width="175" height="233" /><img alt="" src="ArticleFile.do?id=11824465" width="176" height="236" />   　      Prof. Young-hoon Cho                Dr. Hang-jong Yoon            Mr. Sang-hoon Han (Doctoral Degree) Dr. Hang-jong Yoon who won the Outstanding Thesis Award presented a thesis named ‘Short-circuit Protection of SiC MOSFETs based Half Bridge using Rogowski Coil’. Dr. Yoon said, “SiCMOSFET-based power conversion system, which is a key element of electric vehicles, has implemented overcurrent and short circuit protection using logoski coils, the first in Korea to develop this technology in universities and industries.” 
Mr. Han in the doctorate degree also won the Award under the theme ‘Alleviate Current Distortion of Dual-buck Inverter During Reactive Power Support’. This technology is newly interpreted and implemented to compensate dual-buck inverters for reactive power, which was only able to compensate active power, in a time when smart inverters are actively introduced in electric system as a part of carbon neutrality. 
The researches were conducted with the support of ‘Konkuk University Hybrid ESS Talent Training Center’ of Korea Energy Technology Evaluation and Planning and Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO).
