Dr. Tae-ho Ham at Research Institute of Life & Environment (Director Il-min Chung) from Department of Crop Science, Konkuk University, won ‘Worldgreen Seedpia Young Plant Breeder Award’ in 2021 The Korean Society of Breeding Science and Rural Development Administration joint conference.Dr. Ham has analyzed health functional ingredients of rice through various genetic resources evaluations, and contributed to higher value of rice industry by cultivating a number of multifunctional colored rice varieties based on the evaluation.
Dr. Ham has records of three variety registrations related to health functional colored rice, three variety applications and one patent registration, and through technology transfer of two varieties and high value-added industrialization in cooperation with related companies, he has participated in a contract of more than 100 million won in royalties and 2% level of running royalty. Through genetic research related to biological and non-biological stress, he presented outstanding research achievements with three SCI, two non-SCI, four SCI under the theme of functional ingredients of colored rice and five theses regarding variety development.
‘Worldgreen Seedpia Young Plant Breeder Award’, sponsored by specialized rice variety company, Worldgreen and Seedpia, has been awarded to researchers with excellent achievements and possibility since 2020. As an additional prize, a prize of 2.5 million won and a medal worth 30g of pure gold will be awarded.
