Konkuk University Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital completed its remodeling construction which had started from January, 2022 and opened its reopening ceremony on the 3rd to turn into the nation’s top animal medical institution and provide the best treatment services to customers. The reopening ceremony was attended by the university officials including Ja Eun Yoo, the Chairperson of Konkuk University Foundation, Young Jae Jeon, the President of Konkuk University, In Soo Choi, the Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine and Hun Young Yoon, the Dean of Konkuk University Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital; and Ju Hyung Hur, the President of Korean Veterinary Medical Association, Yeon Chul Woo, the Secretary-General of Korean Veterinary Medical Association, Nam Seop Jin, the President of the College of Veterinary Medicine Alumni at Konkuk University, Young Min Choi, the President of Seoul Veterinary Medical Association and Idon Choi, the President of Konkuk University Veterinary Medicine Alumni.The newly opened hospital has completely remodeled an existing space of 300 pyeong to increase customer satisfaction and allow the best medical staff and researchers in Korea to provide the ultimate treatment.The lobby and reception area where the pets and patients face first are composed of optimized spaces in consideration of their movement and convenience to offer the best services.One of the most noticeable features is the remodeling of medical administration offices. The newly constructed medical administration offices will support more than 100 veterinarians treating their patients.
The building has separated space for various advanced devices such as CT-MRI, echocardiography and endoscopy so that they can be operated a lot more effectively. Konkuk University Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital will offer the best diagnosis and treatment services by gathering these devices in one space.
There is also a special place for those who lost their patients. By making a ‘Memorial Room’ where guardians can mourn the passing of their pets during the treatment, this place will give emotional stability for the guardians.
In preparation for the increasing demand for cat patients, a cat waiting room, a cat treatment room and a cat hospitalization room were also set up so that they can be treated with a one-stop service.
Ju Hyung Hur, the President of Korean Veterinary Medical Association, said in the congratulatory address, “In addition to the establishment of Animal Cancer Center, Konkuk University Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital will become the nation’s top animal medical institution with its remodeling construction,” and, “We were able to make the successful reopening thanks to a huge interest and support for animal welfare and treatment at the university headquarters level.”
Young Jae Jeon, the President of Konkuk University, stated, “As the number of pets is increasing and the demand for their medical treatment is surging recently, the need for the shared growth of the animal hospital and Konkuk University College of Veterinary Medicine is also growing,” adding, “We hope that Konkuk University Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital will lead the development of national veterinary clinical sciences and College of Veterinary Medicine.”Ja Eun Yoo, the Chairperson of Konkuk University Foundation, addressed, “The social perception of pets is changing as a member of a ‘family’, and the relevant industries are also developing in various ways,” and “By modernizing the old facilities and updating the medical devices, we hope that Konkuk University Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital will take a leap forward in the pet treatment and research and lead the veterinary medicine field.
