‘Biophilia’, student volunteer club of College of Veterinary Science of Konkuk University, is going to Laos for overseas volunteer service to contribute to improvement of public health.
A total of 20 students, including 15 students from Biophilia (Chairperson Eun-jin Ahn, Advisor Hun-young Yoon), 4 alumni veterinarians and Professor Soon-Wook Chung (volunteer director and veterinary surgeon) will participate in volunteer activities from the 13th to the 21st. They plan to vaccinate and treat small animals, large animals, and poultry farmhouse, and proceed biosecurity.In March 2015, students from Veterinary College gathered together to realize the spirit of service based on the philosophy of respecting life, and they made Biophilia. Currently under the guidance of senior veterinarians in charge of veterinary services in Korea and abroad, they are conducting veterinary volunteer work, and regularly provide services every month in cooperation with the various veterinarian social groups. The 4th Laos volunteer work was supported by the various institutions such as Central Vaccine, Green Cross Veterinary Products, Boehringer Ingelheim, Bayer Korea, Animal Hospital of Konkuk University, Nowon N, Seoul Veterinary Society, Veterinary Clinical Alumni Association, Nowon N Animal Hospital, Amazon Animal Hospital, Hanmaeum Animal Hospital, VIP Animal Medical Center Sungshin Women's University Branch, VIP Animal Medical Center Changan Branch, 24h Jamsil On Animal Hospital, Yooseok Animal Hospital, Daechi Animal Medical Center, 7500 Animal Hopital and Professors and Alumni’s of College of Veterinary Science with their donation and medical supplies. Eun-jin Ahn (College of Veterinary Medicine 4th), Chairperson of Biophilia, who attended the opening ceremony, said, "The overseas voluntary medical service activities are valuable because they can only be done by veterinary college students, and they are a good opportunity to return our talents to society. We will do our best to make systematic and wide-ranging volunteer activities as we have thoroughly prepared the exercises such as practice at poultry farmhouse and self-seminars."
