“Start-up as a role of economic ladder”.. Discussion to empower start-up business
The Ministry of Strategy and Finance, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, and the Ministry of Science and Technology opened a 'Round Table for Technology Innovative Entrepreneurship' at the 'Smart Factory' which is Konkuk University’s student creative space and listened to students what they are suffering from start-up business process and encouraged them.The event was attended by representatives of related organizations such as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Planning and Finance Kim Dong-yeon, Minister of Science and Technology, Young-min Yoo, Minister of Small and Medium-sized Venture Business, Jong-hak Hong, Director of Job Training of Ministry of Education, Young-gon Kim. Also, President Sanggi Min of Konkuk University, Professor Jung-min Nam of Dankuk University, Professor Jin-su Kim of Joongang University, the head of Suwon sustainable city foundation start-up support center, Representative Tae-woo Lee of Art A, Bong-hak Lee of Vandal Soft (Computer Engineering, Konkuk University 11), Hyuk-jin Kim of Real Lab and students, senior star-up businessmen and academic experts were attended at the event.Prior to the meeting, the deputy Prime Minister Kim, Minister Hong, and Minister of Information Technology and Communication Yoo Young-min looked around the prime lounge, an open-type learning space built by the Konkuk University, under the guidance of President Sanggi Min. In particular, the President showed and demonstrated a state of the art educational innovation site of Konkuk University such as VR room, metal equipment room, woodworking room, 3D printer room, design room and drone operation test site located in Smart Factory. In addition, they met various entrepreneurship clubs in Smart Factory's founding club and listened to their difficulties and encouraged them. President Sanggi Min said, "Konkuk University has been supporting various projects such as building a Smart Factory, a space for students' creative work, and introducing the Dream Semester System, a future curriculum, in order to cultivate young entrepreneurs." And added “we will provide students with a specific start-up roadmap and will try to eliminate the thick barriers between departments and to produce more start-up talents to lead innovation growth.”
The deputy Prime Minister Kim said, "I think it is very important to create an environment where top talents can start a business and create entrepreneurship in the medium and long term." The government will make a lot of efforts to create an innovative growth ecosystem such as a start-up safety net and an efficient start-up compensation system. "He said.Minister Hong said, "It is yet not enough, but the government is supporting start-up entrepreneurs with deregulation and tax benefits. We will try our best to exchange know-how with excellent people, university professors and young student founders in large companies." Minister Hong also explained his experience of attending a venture and entrepreneurship festival in Busan. "One student at the festival said, 'My friends are going to join Samsung but I want to build a Samsung.'"
