Konkuk University - Maryland State University established KU-GRID to support bio start-ups

<p style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;">Konkuk University introduced the 'Grid System' (Grid System), which is a support program for biomedical and bioscience venture start-ups operated by Maryland State University, USA, and established 'KU-GRID' (Konkuk University Convergence Science Innovation Support Center, KU Graduate Research Innovation District), and conducted a signboard hanging ceremony on Sep.28th, 2018.<br /><br /> On this event, President Jay Perman of the Maryland State University, staff members of the University of Maryland, President Tak Heo of Professor Learning Center, President Yong-Bum Cho of Office of Public Affairs, Medical Director Sul-Hee Han and 30 Professors of Konkuk University Medical School and students attended.<br /><br /> <img width="641" height="227" style="margin: 0 auto; display: block;" alt="" src="ArticleFile.do?id=11744327" /><br /> Since 2005, Maryland State has been operating the 'Grid System' and established a Bio Park in the Baltimore campus to support and grow start-up companies by moving into Bio Park. Konkuk University has signed MOU with Maryland State University and implemented the ‘Grid System’ in Konkuk University's Seoul Campus by introducing it into KU Bio Cluster which is specialized in the veterinary field of the Konkuk University.<br /><br /> Since 2002, Konkuk University has been working research cooperation by building ‘Bio-Cluster’ with hospitals such as Konkuk University Hospital and Konkuk University Veterinary Hospital, research institute such as Konkuk Institute of Technology, and College of science field such as College of Sanghuh Life Sciences, College of Medicine, and College of Veterinary Medicine.<br /><br /> Konkuk University 'KU-GRID' plans to start-up business activities based on various experimental infrastructure equipped at bio clusters, participated by various start-up clubs of medical graduate school and general graduate schools, Professors, and researchers. In addition, KU will organically cooperate with various organizations such as private VC, bio association, and pharmaceutical association and plan to become a leader in practical translational research and start-up business education. <br /><br /> Medical Director Sul-Hee Han said "The combination of Maryland State's Grid System and the excellent medical system of Konkuk University will create a strong synergy for bio start-up business."
