Konkuk University Academy of Mobility Humanities (Director In Seob Shin) HK+ project team hosted the "Mobility Humanities Network (AMHN) Founding Ceremony for Asia Mobility Humanities Network (AMHN)" on 14th at the Azelia Hall of Classic 500 in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul.
The Asia Mobility Humanities Network, led by the Konkuk University Academy of Mobility Humanities, is Asia's first mobility research network that is designed to deepen and expand Asian mobility research and to promote academic exchanges among researchers in the mobility sector.Mobility research has been centered on researchers in European academic and social sciences for the past decade. Examples include the Global Mobilities Network organized by Center for Mobilities Research at the University of Lancaster in the UK, the Cosmobilities Network sponsored by the German Research Council, the Anthropology and Mobility Network led by Belgian anthropologist Noel Salazar, and the Australian Mobilities Research Network. In-Seob Shin, the director of the Academy of Mobility Humanities, said, "The Asia Mobility Humanities Network, which will be in tune with the existing English-language mobility research network, will continue its academic activities in various fields such as academic conferences, publications and education."International Conference on “Recent Trends and Humanistic Perspectives in Mobility Studies” held on 15th The Academy of Mobility Humanities hosted an international conference on the theme of ‘Recent Trends and Humanistic Perspectives in Mobility Studies’ on 15th, following the founding ceremony of the Asia Mobility Humanities Network. The conference was presented by Professor Peter Adey of Royal Holloway, University of London (Evacuation Mobilities: A Movility Geo-Humanities Perspective) and Professor Maria Reyes of University of Santo Tomas, Philippine (Migratory Textualities: From Canon to Cyberspace).
Professor Kobayashi Yasuko of Osaka University, Japan (War And Knowledge Mobilities: The Demand For Japanese Language In Australia During The Pacific War), HK Professor Tae-hee Kim of Konkuk University Academy of Mobility Humanities (Edmund Husserl’s Phenomenological Analyses on Embodied Mobilities), HK Research Professor Soo-chul Kim (How Do North Koreans Speak Out in South Korea? The Affective Politics of Reality TV), Farrah Sheikh of HK research professor(Exploring How Mobility Affects Muslim Lives: The Case of Yemeni Refugees on Jeju Island) presented about their themes, and debate continued afterwards. The director In-Seob Shin said, "The founding ceremony of Asia Mobility Humanity Network and international conference will have very important significance as a point of contact between 'mobility' research in sociology and humanities by approaching 'mobility' in a humanistic way which has been approached by sociological way until now."
