The Institute of the Humanities for Unification of Konkuk University (Director Sung-min Kim, Department of Philosophy) held '20th World Korea Forum' at Columbia University from July 1st to 3rd.The World Korea Forum was organized to form a discourse among global opinion leaders who can contribute to the value of peaceful unification on the Korean Peninsula in the international community and the best forum among the field that around 200 people from 15 countries participate in this forum every year. The 20th World Korea Forum was held at the University of Colombia in the United States under the theme of 'Time to Peacekeeping Stability Reunification', organized by the Korea Foundation, and sponsored by the Institute of the Humanities for Unification, Overseas Koreans Foundation, the Korean American Association of New York, the Yeosu Foundation, POSCO, KBS, MBC, and Newsis.The 20th World Korea Forum was consisted of 8 sessions. On the first day of the forum, as a beginning of welcome message from Mr. Sung-Kon Kim, former President of the Republic of Korea and Professor. Lee Bollinger, President of the University of Colombia, keynote announcements were made by Professor. Joseph Dietrani of the University of Missouri, Brian McDonald of former EU Ambassador to Korea, councilor Greenford of EU Congressman, Professor Myung-kyu Park of Seoul National University, and John Merrill, former US State Department director of Northeast Asia.
On the second day of the forum, Professor Lee Jong-beom, Director of Korea Studies, Dr. Batur Zamyan, Professor of National University of Mongolia, Professor Mikal Bukowski, Professor of the EU Security Research Institute, Prof. Kim Kwang-rim of Japan Niigata University of Industry, Keynote presentation was carried out.
