The closing ceremony for the Konkuk University International Student Buddy (ISB) program & Exchange/Visiting student Internship was held on December 13, 2019, to congratulate the buddies’ and interns' completion of their one semester program.
The International Student Internship Program is a voluntary program that operated by international exchange/visiting students who are non-degree students in foreign language education programs and international cultural exchange programs for Konkuk University students, organized by the Office of International Affairs. A total of 74 students have completed their internships since 2017, including the 20 students from 8 countries who completed the internship for Fall semester of 2019. One of the interns, Bianca from Romania said that “For me, the internship was a great experience, and it made my time in Korea more interesting! It helped me meet Korean students from Konkuk University and get a closer look into their worldview. It was quite fun to discuss with them and find out what they think about foreign students and cultures. Teaching the English language has always been a dream of mine - I’m happy that I got to do it with the support of such good students, and I’m thankful for the experience.” The KU International Student Buddy Program was organized by the Office of International Affairs as part of the University Innovation Support Program (2019) in order to strengthen students' global capabilities and improve the university's global education environment. For fall semester of 2019, 57 ISBs selected by the KU International Programs team, helped international students with their course registration, taking courses, how to use on-campus cafeteria and experience Korean culture. The director of the International Programs team said, “This program will help us to promote 'Global Citizenship', which is one of the six core competencies of Konkuk University and spread the internationalization project. We will select 7 excellent report submitted by International Student Buddies and give them scholarship and share their works on campus.”
