‘Konkuk Partnership Company’, a subsidiary company of Konkuk University Corporation to expand employment opportunities for the disabled, recently opened a café and convenience store hiring employees with disabilities on the 3rd floor lounge in Sanghuh Memorial Library.In 2019, Konkuk Partnership Company opened its first business workplace ‘ReSTIO’, operated by the disabled on the 1st floor of Industry-Academic Cooperation Center and obtained a certification for the disabled standard workplace. Currently, there are three non-disabled employees and ten disabled employees in the first and second stores.
The convenience store, which is located in Sanghuh Lounge on the 3rd floor of Sanghuh Memorial Library, in particular, was established in response to the students’ biggest requirement among the survey conducted by the Library Committee, and is under unmanned operation at all times.
In order to support the establishment of a subsidiary-type standard workplace, such as Konkuk Partnership Comapny, the government provides up to 1 billion won in installing facilities, etc. Also, the government grants benefits such as corporate tax reduction at standard workplaces by calculating the number of the disabled employees in subsidiaries as employees of their holding companies.
"We will continue to make efforts to create jobs for the disabled for a warm workplace where non-disabled and disabled people share their dreams together," said Dohyung Kim, the head of management strategy at Konkuk University Corporation.
