Office of Career Development and Placement at Konkuk University was selected as an excellent university for ‘2020 Youth Dream Best Practice’ hosted by Ministry of Employment and Labor, Dong-A Ilbo and Korea Employment Information Service, and received Minister of Employment and Labor Award.
‘Youth Dream Best Practice’, which started from 2015, is an event to discover and publicize outstanding cases of universities supporting students’ career planning as well as employment and start-up support. For this year, a total of 97 cases were introduced in three areas of career guidance, employment and start-up support. Meanwhile, Konkuk University was selected as best university for employment support with the case of ‘Analysis System for Graduates’ Employment Progress’.
As the first university in Korea, Konkuk University’s ‘Analysis System for Graduates’ Employment Progress’ analyzes Korea Educational Development Institute's employment statistics survey system and the school's portal site to manage employment statistics for customization. The system enables customized career management according to the student's attendance cycle by establishing a large amount of data of students with big data.
Through this system, the employment statistics survey of graduates from higher education institutions conducted annually by Korea Educational Development Institute changed the existing Excel method into the computerized method to increase efficiency and data accumulation of employment statistics. This method recently resulted in the growth of employment rate of Konkuk University to about 3.6%.
Vice President for Career Development and Placement, Hyungsuk Kim, said, “Based on the accumulated data from Analysis System for Graduates’ Employment Progress, Konkuk University is planning unique comparative programs and employment and career counseling service. I believe that the more information we collect through the system, the more diverse application we will accomplish.”
