Prof. Kwang Pyo KIM of the Department of Molecular Biotechnology of Konkuk University and the members of his research team developed a novel molecular imaging technique from direct tissue analysis which enables molecular imaging of small molecules and metabolites for their absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion, without additional molecular labeling of fluorescence or radioactive isotopes.
This represents a breakthrough in the development of new drugs. This was made public in the cover article of the December 21 issue of Analyst: “A New Combination MALDI Matrix for Small Molecule Analysis: Application to Imaging Mass Spectrometry for Drugs and Metabolites.”
