Konkuk University professors proved the possibility of controlling genes that cause Prader-Willi syndrome through dedifferentiation and redifferentiation of induced pluripotent stem cells. This promises to offer a clue to treating genetic diseases by using stem cells. Prof. Do Jeong-tae and Prof. Kim Min-jung of the Department of Animal Biotechnology at Konkuk conducted this research jointly with Prof. Hans Scholer of Max Planck Institute for Experimental Medicine. Their paper “Conversion of Genomic Imprinting by Reprogramming and Redifferentiation” was published in the March 22 online edition of Journal of Cell Science.
