Korean researchers led by Konkuk University professors recently discovered the molecular mechanism where hepatitis viruses inhibit liver regeneration, paving the way to preventing and possibly treating viral liver diseases. The research was led by Prof. Kim Kyun-hwan and Prof. Park Eun-sook of the School of Medicine of Konkuk and was jointly conducted with professors from other Korean universities. Their paper “Hepatitis B virus inhibits liver regeneration via epigenetic regulation of urokinase-type plasminogen activator” was published in the March 8 online edition of Journal of Hepatology.
