Strengthening Global Capacity Through Study Abroad Programs for KU Students
At the 2014 Spring Information Session on Study Abroad Programs held on Mar. 6, 2014, at Konkuk University (KU), the Office of International Affairs introduced the current status of international cooperation at KU. As of Mar. 2014, KU has concluded MOUs with 407 universities and research institutes and is sending about 700 KU students abroad through various study abroad programs.
At the information session, students learned about the details of each program, including the application procedure and scholarship information. KU's study abroad programs include the exchange and visiting student programs, international visiting program, and international internship program, as well as short-term programs carried out in the summer.
KU Office of International Affairs is promoting the following to enhance its study abroad programs: partnerships with overseas institutions, substantial mutual student exchange, and international internship programs, among other efforts. In particular, to provide students with a variety of academic experiences and opportunity to acquire foreign languages and to foster global talent, KU is expanding its study abroad programs with prestigious universities around the globe. KU plans to provide students with rich experience and opportunities for foreign language acquisition by diversifying study abroad programs for each region (i.e., US, Europe, Australia, China, Japan, etc.)
Foreign Exchange Students Come to Konkuk University to Learn About Korea
The Center for International Faculty and Student Services at Konkuk University (KU) held an Orientation for New Foreign Exchange Students (Spring 2014) at the Sanghuh Hall.
A total of 168 foreign exchange students came to KU, which is an additional 33 students compared to last year, from 19 different countries including Chile, China, Finland, France, Germany, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, and the U.S. Students were provided detailed information on academic affairs, campus life, and immigration.
As for the number of degree-seeking undergraduate international students, it is 948 as of Spring 2014. Along with the growing number of KU's partner universities, the number of foreign exchange students and foreign degree-seeking students are also on the rise.
