On Apr. 17, 2014, international students enrolled in the Korean Language Programs at the Konkuk University Language Institute (KLI) went on a field trip to Byeonsanbando, Jeollabuk-do. The field trip was organized to provide students with the opportunity to directly experience Korean culture outside of the classroom and to have a great time with their friends. Students could also learn new Korean expressions through this special occasion. For many students, it was their first time to leave the boundaries of Seoul.
After a three-hour bus ride, students arrived at Byeonsanbando, home to one of Korea's national parks, where they looked around and took photos of the Chaeseokgang River and the West Sea. In the evening, the "Miss Konkuk Competition" was held. One male student from each class participated in the event. Mr. Zhou Wenjie who was selected as Miss Konkuk "Jin," the first place winner, expressed his appreciation for his fellow classmates for supporting him with cosmetics, wig, and clothes. The competition was followed by a potluck party which all students and homeroom teachers enjoyed.
Next day, the students came back to Seoul, bringing back with them beautiful scenes of Seonunsa Buddhist Temple and pleasant memories with their classmates. The Korean Language Program field trip hosted by the KLI is held every semester, spring and fall, for two days and one night. The venue changes every time (e.g., Seoraksan (Mt. Seorak), Gyeongju, etc.), allowing students to spend a great time with their classmates in the beautiful nature while enhancing Korean proficiency.
