Students of Apparel Design at the College of Art and Design, Konkuk University (KU), participated in the largest fashion trade show in Europe, "Who's Next," which was held from Jan. 25 to 28, 2014, in Paris, France. "PLAN 6," an apparel brand created by these student designers, captured the interest of numerous visitors and received favorable reviews from overseas buyers.
The creative and unique designs of PLAN 6, primarily consisting of simple achromatic colors and bold lines, were well received in the fashion market and industry through this occasion. Who's Next is a major global fashion exhibition which is known to be extremely difficult to secure a place. KU's PLAN 6 was the first to be invited among all fashion brands created by Korean university students.
The name PLAN 6 originates from where the student designers first gathered - the 6th floor of the KU College of Art and Design. PLAN 6 made its debut through a KU Apparel Design project team aiming to take part in the Hong Kong Fashion Week, the biggest fashion event in Asia held in July 2013. As the first college student group in Korea to attend the Hong Kong Fashion Week, the PLAN 6 team received good reviews from local buyers.
After successfully operating a pop-up store in Hyundai Department Store (Mokdong Branch, Seoul) in Sept. 2013, the student designers went further to start their own business by registering the brand in the form of a cooperative union, which will allow them to continue to design under the name of PLAN 6 even after graduation.
