‘hOURs (honor our sewing)’, a women’s cloting brand founded by Konkuk University students, donated 10 pieces of clothing tailored to the disabled of brain lesions worth 500,000 won to the Korean Society of Severe Acute Brain Lesions on the 11th.
The ‘Clothing Project for Everyone’, which donated its profit to the disabled who have difficulty in walking or daily life due to brain damage, was designed on the fact that existing underwears have not been considering the physical characteristics of the disabled with brain lesions. Guardians of the disabled participated in the design process enhancing convenience, and domestic sewing craftsmen created products pursued by the goals of the brand.
The clothing brand, hOURs, originated from the project, ‘We; 衣’ of Konkuk University’s social contribution management club. Despite its long history and high technical skills, domestic sewing industry underwent labor shortages due to China’s cheap labor and high level of dependence on foreign countries, and the main goal of the brand is to revitalize domestic sewing industry. Designing clothes with Korean beauty as a motif its own design elements is the brand’s characteristic.
hOURs plans to present new products for Spring 2021. The brand is expected to produce clothes with domestic sewing craftsmen by using unique design elements of curves and straight lines of Hanbok as a motif.
hOURs said, “We hope that the customized clothing will help to reduce the inconvenience of the disabled of brain lesions,” adding that, “The social contribution activities of ‘Clothing Project for Everyone’ will be continued regularly every 6 months and some of the profits will be used to produce clothes for socially disadvantaged class.”
