Konkuk University (KU) is operating short-term programs which combine language classes and cultural experience for students at KU and its partner universities.
[KU Students to Overseas]
This summer, as part of the KU Short-term Study Abroad Program (SAP), KU students are to study at 16 partner universities in seven countries including Australia, China, Japan, Kazakhstan, Malta, Malaysia, and the US.
Through the KU-Asian Leaders Program (KU-ALP), another short-term program, the largest number of KU students has been sent to a single country, 43 in total, to Shanghai University of Finance and Economics in China. Divided into four different classes based on Chinese proficiency, students will take more than 100 hours of classes on Chinese language and culture. The duration of the program is from June 30 to Aug. 8, 2014.
[International Students to KU]
Meanwhile, KU invites students from partner universities to come for various educational programs offered at its main campus (Seoul). This summer, 123 students from 28 universities in various countries, including Hungary, Kenya, and Russia, are taking part or will participate in summer programs held at KU.
In particular, the 2014 Internship & Cultural Experience (ICE) held an orientation on June 25. ICE is a kind of internship which provides selected international students with opportunities to teach English to KU students and experience Korean culture as well. Through this service learning, KU students and international students are able to engage in a mutual exchange of knowledge and ideas.
The Japan Summer Program (JSP) will invite students from several partner universities in Japan, through which students will attend lectures on Korean language and culture while exchanging with KU students. Other short-term programs that invite Japanese students include the Ritsumeikan University College of Business Administration Summer Program, Toyo University Summer Program, and Otemon Gakuin University Summer Program.
