Konkuk University (KU) Center for Global Agricultural Development Cooperation (Director: Prof. Doo-Hwan Kim), conducted an agricultural training program for seven officials from the Ministry of Agriculture, Breeding and Rural Development, Gabonese Republic, during Sept. 15-28, 2014.
This program was carried out as part of the project for capacity-building of Gabonese agricultural policy officials of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and hosted by KU Center for Global Agricultural Development Cooperation.
The program aimed at reinforcing Gabonese public officials' capacity to improve Gabon's current agricultural policies and institutions. KU Center for Global Agricultural Development Cooperation provided lectures on Korea's best practices of agricultural and fishery innovation such as the Saemaul Undong as well as basic agricultural theories on cultivating potatoes, maize breeding, etc. The officials visited several related sites in Korea such as the Saemangeum Seawall, Noryangjin Fisheries Wholesale Market, distribution center of the National Federation of Fisheries Cooperatives, among others.
Director Doo-Hwan Kim said, "We expect that the public officials from Gabon, with the training that they received on Korea's advanced agricultural technologies and policies, will play a positive role in increasing agricultural and fishery income and enhancing life quality in Gabon, thus contributing to the nation's development."
KU had conducted agricultural training programs for Afghani officials in October 2014 and March 2015.
