Konkuk University (KU) and Booyoung Co., Ltd. signed an MOU for the establishment of "Woojeongwon (宇庭園)," or "Human Resource Development Center" on KU Seoul Campus on May 13, 2014. The construction will be funded by the 8 billion Korean won (or almost 8 million USD) donated by President Lee Joong-Keun of Booyoung Group and Booyoung Co., Ltd. The Center was named after President Lee's pen name.
The "Human Resource Development Center" will be constructed until 2015, with eight floors including one in the basement and a total area of about 5,300㎡ at a site near the KU:L House (KU Dormitory) and International House. The building is to be furnished with reading rooms, seminar rooms, and lecture halls for around 150 students preparing for national examinations.
Previously in 2003, President Lee had donated for the construction of the International House, a residence exclusive for foreign faculty and students at KU. He has also participated in many charity activities for KU students and is carrying out his duties as a private diplomatic envoy by supporting the education of developing countries.
