"A globalized system needs to be adopted in order to expand and vitalize substantial international exchange," said Prof. Kwangsoo Kim, Vice President of International Affairs at Konkuk University (KU). "For the qualitative expansion of campus globalization, a sustainable infrastructure for international cooperation should be established." With such aim, KU Office of International Affairs has been making efforts by providing distinguished international programs offered through partnerships with 436 universities in 59 countries.

A representative example is the faculty-led program which enables international students to take courses at KU while experiencing Korean culture. Konkuk has concluded agreements for short-term faculty-led program with universities in the US, including University of Mississippi (UM), Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech), and California State University Channel Islands (CSUCI). In Fall 2014, an agreement was concluded between Konkuk and Connecticut College, through which a professor of economics visited Konkuk with five students for a semester-long faculty-led program at Konkuk. The professor taught economics courses while the "visiting students" took classes, learned Korean, and engaged in Korean cultural activities. The International Programs Team, KU Office of International Affairs, is providing such tailored programs to meet the needs of the partner institution.
The ICE (Internship & Cultural Experience) program also offered by the International Program Team is noteworthy as well. This is a 4-week program in which English-speaking students, or "interns," from partner universities abroad participate to teach English to Konkuk students. The interns gain teaching experience and have the opportunity to engage in Korean cultural activities throughout the program. For participating Konkuk students, the program is referred to as "KU English Village," which provides a unique opportunity for Korean students to actively communicate with their English instructors.
In addition, the Center for International Faculty and Student Services of KU Office of International Affairs offers a dual degree program with Nanjing University in China. This program allows students to study at the home institution for four semesters and complete the remaining four semesters at the other institution. If graduation requirements are met, students are awarded degrees from both institutions.
Starting from Fall 2015, the Global Leader Certification System will be introduced, through which students can be equipped with three core requirements before graduation: globalization, informatization, and volunteer work. Each certified "Global Leader" will receive an official certificate and a scholarship.
Recently in December 2014, Konkuk launched a new English website to allow international students to fully utilize the University's latest news and information. Furthermore, International Student Volunteers (ISVs), Foreign Student Volunteers, Buddy Program, Internship Program, Glocal Café (English-only café) at KU:L House, and various cultural events offer help and information to foreign students and faculty.
