Every semester, Konkuk University (KU) invites numerous students from diverse countries for its semester and year-long Exchange Student Program (ESP) and Visiting Student Program (VSP). Both programs allow international students to pursue their studies at Konkuk, Korea's prestigious comprehensive university, while experiencing Korean culture with Korean and foreign friends.
ESP provides international students enrolled in KU's partner universities the opportunity to study at Konkuk's main campus in Seoul. Students are selected by their home universities according to the terms and conditions specified in the MOU with Konkuk. As of 2015, Konkuk exchanges students with 450 higher education institutions in 60 countries - partner institutions include the world's top universities such as the University of California at Berkeley and University of Wisconsin (Madison) in the US, the University of Edinburgh in the UK, Erasmus Rotterdam University in the Netherlands, and Osaka University in Japan.
On Feb. 26, 2015, a welcome orientation was held for exchange students admitted for 2015 spring semester. A total of 159 students from 22 countries including China, Denmark, France, Germany, Kazakhstan, Mexico, the Netherlands, Spain, and the US came to Konkuk to participate in ESP.
VSP is open to students who attend higher education institutions outside of South Korea and whose nationalities are non-Korean. On Feb. 25, Konkuk welcomed 17 undergraduate visiting students from the US who came to Konkuk as visiting students to study for one or two semesters during 2015. The students mostly enrolled in classes conducted in English and at least one Korean language course at the Konkuk Language Institute (KLI).
