KU College of Veterinary Medicine Receives Highest Level of Certification
Konkuk University (KU) announced on April 15, 2015, that KU College of Veterinary Medicine received "complete accreditation," the highest level of veterinary medical education certification, by the Accreditation Board of Veterinary Education in Korea (ABOVEK). A ceremony and meeting were held on this day to award the certification.
The accreditation system evaluates and certifies veterinary medical education and educational institutions with an aim to enhance their quality. Receiving the highest level of accreditation signifies the superb educational quality of Konkuk's College of Veterinary Medicine while guaranteeing that its graduates are fully capable.
KU College of Veterinary Medicine is the first in the nation to receive a "complete accreditation," the highest level of certification obtainable, which is valid for the next five years. The results of the assessment conducted by ABOVEK, the host organization of veterinary medical education in Korea, showed that KU College of Veterinary Medicine completely fulfilled the "accreditation standards for veterinary medical education" and has been offering adequate educational curricula. The College was also recognized of its efforts for carrying out its social responsibilities.
KU Dept. of Environmental Engineering Assessed as 'Outstanding' by Industry-Perspective University Evaluation
Konkuk University (KU) announced on April 10, 2015, that it has been selected as an "outstanding university" in the area of environmental engineering according to the 2014 Industry-Perspective University Evaluation conducted by the Korean Council for University Education (KCUE). The evaluation results were released by the Korean Ministry of Education and KCUE on April 9.
The Industry-Perspective University Evaluation involves four industrial areas: environment, energy, biomedicine, and biomedical devices. A total of 34 universities and 51 departments have participated in this voluntary evaluation; 27 universities competed for the environmental industry area, from which eight universities including KU have been selected as "outstanding."
Konkuk's Dept. of Environmental Engineering, College of Engineering, received positive reviews for the criteria concerning educational and technology development achievements such as employment rate and work capacity of graduates.
