The closing ceremony for the Konkuk University (KU) Internship & Cultural Experience program (ICE) was held on July 24, 2015, to congratulate the interns' completion of the five-week long program of teaching English to Korean students enrolled at KU. Selected by the internship host, the KU Office of International Affairs, four interns from English-speaking countries embarked on the internship on June 24, also known as the KU English Village Program for participating Korean learners of English.
Receiving strong academic and administrative support from the International Programs Team (KU Office of International Affairs) and the Konkuk Language Institute (KLI), interns participated in academic workshops prior to conducting English classes. Topics covered in the classes taught by interns included writing the class newspaper, reading and discussion, and exploring and experiencing culture, and presentation skills.
During the weekends, interns of the International Program Team and International Student Volunteers (ISV), current Konkuk students, accompanied the ICE interns to various cultural and historical sites in Seoul. Thus, ICE interns not only gained hands-on teaching experience but also learned about Korean culture and history.
