On Oct. 5, 2015, Konkuk University (KU) President Heeyoung Song held a meeting with the delegation led by CEO Dato’ Abdul Karim Mustafa of MARA·Education Foundation in Malaysia. The parties of Konkuk and MARA discussed measures for reinforcing exchange and cooperation between the two institutions.
MARA is an agency under the Malaysian government, founded in 1966 with the aim of enhancing and facilitating the nation’s socioeconomic development. Currently, the organization operates scholarship programs which support distinguished students in higher education, and it has been dispatching between 1,200 and 1,400 students every year through the MARA scholarship, a government-run program for Malay students.
MARA has been sending Malay students to KU since 2013; at present, there are 15 students studying at Konkuk through the MARA scholarship. The delegations of Konkuk and MAYA held discussions on the ways to expand the MARA student body at KU as well as the 2+2 program for graduates of professional schools.Posted by Eun Jin Cho
