Konkuk University (KU) announced on Sept. 24, 2015, that a delegation led by Professor and Party Secretary Zhang Yibin of Nanjing University (NJU) in China visited KU, The Classic 500, and Konkuk University Medical Center (KUMC) during September 21–23, to discuss mutual cooperation measures between the two institutions.
On September 23, in particular, the Chinese delegation and KU President Heeyoung Song met together and confirmed the achievements of the 2 + 2 Dual Degree Program between the KU Division of International Studies and the NJU Dept. of International Economics and Trade, while discussing the program’s expansion to include other departments such as economics. Other matters including the extension of cooperation between the two universities’ philosophy, business management, and Chinese language and literature departments, as well as the establishment of the Confucius Institute, were also covered.
On this day, Prof. Zhang gave an invitational lecture on four texts of Heidegger, speaking on the complex, multilayered aspect of the philosopher's thinking. A representative Chinese Marxist scholar, Prof. Zhang is currently director of Center for Studies of Marxist Social Theory (CSMST).
NJU is one of China’s most prestigious comprehensive universities, functioning under the Ministry of Education, which has ranked no. 6 in the overall assessment of Chinese universities in 2012.
