Prof. Michael Levitt , 2013 Nobel laureate in chemistry and faculty at the Stanford University School of Medicine, visited Konkuk University (KU) on Sept. 23, 2015, to discuss research cooperation with KU President Heeyoung Song as well as to hold a special lecture.
Prof. Levitt met with President Song in the morning of September 23 for a meeting covering various topics including mutual research and cooperation. He gave a special lecture in the afternoon, which was followed by visits to the National Museum of Korea and the Changdeokgung Palace, a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage in Seoul, with Konkuk students who attended his lecture.
In 2013, Prof. Levitt, Prof. Martin Karplus (currently the Theodore William Richards Professor of Chemistry, Emeritus at Harvard University), and Prof. Arieh Warshel (Distinguished Professor of Chemistry, University of Southern California) were jointly awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry “for the development of multiscale models for complex chemical systems” (Nobelprize.org), a distinguished contribution to the advancement of modern chemistry.Posted by Eun Jin Cho
