In November 2015, Konkuk University (KU) announced that its undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs in business as well as the Management of Technology & Design MBA and Top of Your Profession MBA programs of the Graduate School of Business Administration have been accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). To earn AACSB International accreditation, business schools must satisfy a wide range of quality standards. In fact, less than 5 percent and 10 percent of worldwide and U.S. universities, respectively, are accredited. In Korea, KU became the 10th university to earn accreditation for both its college of business and MBA program.
AACSB accreditation is expected to facilitate dual-degree programs and collaboration among faculty and students with other accredited schools. “The accreditation is an outcome of KU business school’s effort to realize the vision of educating global leaders who have an impact on the business community through collaboration with others,” said Dr. Yong Jae Kim, dean of the College of Business and Graduate School of Business Administration. “We hope that it will have a positive effect on the career development of students and collaboration in academic research.”
Dr. Kim stressed that KU’s Business School must maintain close relations with the community for problem-solving. He also reiterated that the business school will focus on practicality. “MBA students will not only undertake capstone projects to secure employment after graduation, but also hold internship positions, receive mentoring and English education, and maintain close relations with faculty,” said Dr. Kim.
