	Konkuk University Foundation Establishes the First ESG Committee for Introduction of ESG Management

Konkuk University Foundation (Chairman Jaeun Yoo) established the first ‘ESG Committee’ for ESG management and introduced ESG management. 
ESG, which stands for Environment, Social and Governance, is a concept to evaluate non-financial performance including environmental issue, social responsibility and transparent management at an enterprise or an organization. As the importance of social responsibility grows, ESG has been an essential evaluation factor in determining the sustainability of an enterprise or an organization. 
ESG Committee, which was established under the direct chairmanship of Konkuk University Foundation, has three divisions (environmental issue, social responsibility and transparent management, and introduce, deliberate and resolve agendas for ESG management. 
Founded in 1946 as the public hospital by Dr. Yoo Seok-chang (Sanghuh) in the harsh colonial era, Konkuk University Foundation is celebrating its 90th anniversary this year. 
Following the founder’s spirit of social responsibility through medical, agriculture, rural development and education, Konkuk University Foundation will prepare and implement action strategies and measures to reduce carbon emissions, introduce eco-friendly energy, employment, safety, human rights and youth startups. 
Konkuk University is the first to establish ESG Committee as a school foundation. 
The Chairman Yoo said, “We believe that the introduction of ESG management is fundamental choice for sustainability in this rapidly changing era, from school foundations to universities,” adding that, “This year, we will make our best efforts to practice ESG management values with all members following the founder’s spirit of social responsibility.” 
Konkuk University Corporation is affiliated with educational institutions (Konkuk University Middle School, Konkuk University High School), medical institutions (Konkuk University Medical Center, Konkuk University Chunghju Hospital), business corporations (Konkuyk Dairy&Ham, The Classic 500, Konkuk AMC, KU Golf Pavilion, Konkuk Building, KPC).
