Konkuk University (KU) Vice President for International Affairs Kwangsoo Kim announced that 1,300 students are expected to study abroad in 2016. Through increasing number of agreements with foreign universities, more opportunities are available for KU students. As of February, KU has entered into 471 agreements with universities in 59 countries to exchange students. The number of KU students that studied abroad rose steadily from 755 students in 2013 to 984 students last year.During the first-year student orientation which took place February 15-24, 2016, staff from the Office of International Affairs visited eight undergraduate colleges to give presentations on dual-degree programs, exchange programs, as well as short-term summer programs that first-year students are eligible to apply for this semester. Students were also encouraged to become “international volunteers”. Selected in May or June, the volunteers support official activities of the Office of International Affairs, such as the International Summer Program and the International Winter Program.Two additional presentations by the Office are scheduled during the spring semester. In May, students who have studied abroad will share about their experience. On the last day of finals, staff will give presentations about studying at specific regions and countries.
