On January 29, 2016, Konkuk University (KU) announced that Ms. Hyejeong Kim, a fourth year student of the Department of Veterinary Medicine, scored the highest in the 60th National Veterinarian Exam administered by the Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency. A total of 606 veterinary students—603 students from 10 Korean universities and three students from overseas—took the exam, and 89 KU students, including all graduating students, passed.
While studying at KU, Ms. Kim earned a perfect GPA for five semesters and received a 100% tuition waiver for eight semesters. She said that she put in extra effort into her studies because she entered college at a relatively late age. As Ms. Kim talked about her plans to intern for a year at a local veterinary clinic run by a KU alumnus she added, “I hope to become a clinical veterinarian that gives joy to many people one day.”
