On October 6, 2016, Konkuk University (KU) held the Joint Forum on Korea-China Cosmetics Industry at the New Millennium Hall. Under the theme of “Entry into China’s Cosmetics Market and Joint Research on Korea and China’s Cosmetics Industry,” the forum included three sessions. The first session discussed recent developments in the industry and trends in exports and imports. The second session was on international research on the industry in both countries. Finally, the last session covered globalization of the cosmetics industry and recent rules and regulations in China.
The forum was co-hosted by KU’s Center for Integrated Science and Technology’s cosmetic engineering department and the Korea Institute of Dermatological Sciences. It was also sponsored by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, Korea Cosmetics Association, Korean Society for Aesthetics and Cosmetology, Beijing Technology and Business University, China Association of Fragrance Flavour and Cosmetic Industries, and China Food and Drug Administration among others. Approximately 300 people attended the event, including KU President Sang-Gi Min, National Assembly Member Yeonhye Choi, and Korea Institute of Dermatological Sciences President Insook Ahn. Participants also visited from Beijing Technology and Business University, China Association of Fragrance Flavour and Cosmetic Industries, and China Food and Drug Administration.
“Konkuk University has introduced the Department of Cosmetics Engineering within the Center for Integrated Science and Technology to educate students in high-growth industries of the future,” said President Min in his congratulatory remarks. “I hope that this forum can promote the industry in both countries in light of Korea’s advanced technology and China’s market potential.”
