On September 22, 2016, a delegation from University of Applied Sciences Technikum Wien (UAS Technikum Wien) led by President Fritz Schmöllebeck visited Konkuk University (KU). Established in 1994, UAS Technikum was the first university in Vienna to be approved in the area of applied science. Currently, it has 13 undergraduate programs and 17 master’s programs, eight of which are conducted in English. UAS Technikum is also active in research related to embedded systems and cyber-physical systems as well as renewable urban energy.
KU entered into a partnership agreement with UAS Technikum Wein in 2008. So far 50 Konkuk students and 15 UAS Technikum Wein students participated in the exchange program. Last year, the ASEM-DUO Fellowship Programme, which promote exchanges between European and Asian ASEM member countries, selected the two universities. As a result, students participating in the exchange program receive approximately €4,000 in scholarships per semester.
During a meeting with KU President Sang-Gi Min, Dean of the Graduate School of Information and Telecommunications Jee-In Kim, Vice President for Information and Communication Technology Doohyun Kim, and Vice President for International Affairs MinKyoung Kim, President Schmöllebeck and Ms. Sandra Allmayer, Head of the Center for International Relations, discussed issues pertaining to joint seminars and research projects among faculty members. They also had a conversation on courses taught in English at KU and improvements for the exchange program.
