On January 11, 2018, Konkuk University (KU) conferred upon Chinese Culture University’s President Lee, Tien-Rein an Honorary Doctorate of Business Administration in the Administration Building.

President Lee, Tien-Rein has stood out as an expert in visual communications & new media and color communication. Over the last ten years of his term as the President of Chinese Culture University (CCU), he has been playing a pivotal role in making the university a comprehensive university through creating an excellent environment for education. From 2008 to 2013, he had lead Taiwanese higher education system reform to tackle problems resulting from a drop in the number of students while working as the President of the Association for Private Universities and Colleges.
Moreover, President Lee, Tien-Rein has greatly contributed to facilitation of academic exchanges among higher education institutions of Taiwan and Korea through organizing international seminars for fostering cooperation in higher education services of Taiwan and Korea and founding the Taiwan Education Center, Korea. Currently, he has been doing his utmost to encourage research in the field of color communication as the Vice President of the International Colour Association.
CCU lead by President Lee, Tien-Rein has long been maintaining partnership with KU. Since establishment of a cooperative relationship in 1969 and conclusion of an academic exchange agreement in 1995, two universities have promoted cooperation and cemented the relationship by sending and receiving 100 students every year. Particularly, CCU and KU jointly established the Taiwan Education Center, Korea at Konkuk University in 2015. Through the center, Taiwan and Korea have actively been continuing academic and cultural exchanges by holding Taiwan education fairs, making presentations on Taiwanese culture for principals of Korean high schools
“I consider it is truly meaningful for KU to grant the honorary doctorate to CCU President Lee, Tien-Rein who has been sparing no effort in enhancing exchanges among higher education institutions and in teaching and research in the field of visual communications & new media and color communication. I expect he will assist our university in becoming one of the world’s most prestigious private universities by providing insights as a member of KU,” said KU President Sanggi Min, in his congratulatory remarks.
“Receiving the honorary doctorate degree from KU marks an exceptional experience in my life in both professional and personal aspects,” CCU President Lee, Tien-Rein during the acceptance speech. Then added, “as common appreciation of culture and cultural values is a great part of the strong motivation for building bonds between our two universities, I will keep endeavoring to enrich our friendship and to build up sustainable societies through cultural exchanges.”

The conferment ceremony was attended by approximately 100 distinguished guests including KU President Sanggi Min, Ms. Hu, Wan-Lin, President Lee, Tien-Rein’s wife, Deputy Representative of the Taipei Mission in Korea Ji-seong, former Representative of the Korean Mission in Taipei Hwang Yong-shik, Director of the Center for Chinese Studies, Korea National Diplomatic Academy Chung Sang-ki, President of RH Korea Yang, Won-seok, numerous members of the KU academic board and staff and students.
